About the project.

This Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) Avoided Deforestation project area covers 166,983 hectares of forest contained within the Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary, a protected area under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Environment. The site is part of the ancestral homeland of many ethnic Bunong people and is also a meeting place for two important eco-regions. The area is currently under threat from accelerating forest clearance for agriculture and unsustainable resource extraction. Before this project, conservation interventions have been fairly limited.
